A New Day serves approximately 22 long-term and 58 short-term suspended middle school students in the Academic Program during the school year. (Long-term suspensions are over 10 days; short-term suspensions are 10 days or less.) We served approximately 15 youth in our summer program, and we serve about 27 youth in our Saturday Program, which runs from October to April.

A New Day also serves some court-involved youth who are not suspended, but have a history of chronic school under achievement (often going back to kindergarden or first grade). Under achievement includes behaviors such as: truancy, multiple suspensions, and repeating the same grade.
